March On Harrisburg is one of several social justice organizations that are on the Coordinating Committee for the Pennsylvania chapter of Rev Dr. Liz Theoharis and Rev. Dr. William Barber II’s Poor People’s Campaign. This moral movement is a revival of Martin Luther King Jr.’s Poor People’s Campaign in 1968, working to end to inseparable evils of the war economy, systemic racism, systemic poverty, and ecological devastation. The state-based Campaign is from May 13th – June 23rd, featuring nonviolent moral fusion direct action every Monday at the State Capitol building in Harrisburg.
The four planks of this Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival are outlined below:
Ending the War Economy.
Ending Ecological Devastation.
Ending Systemic Racism.
Pennsylvania’s coalition currently includes groups like Put People First, CADBI, ACTUP, Global Women’s Strike, and New Sanctuary Movement.
The PA Organizing Group of The Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival is currently registering people for each weekly event this summer. Please visit: papoorpeoplescampaign.org.
